Problem: When I try to install Bongo 1 in Vista/Win7, it complains about needing Administrator Rights.

Solution: The installer for Bongo 1 was created for Win2000 and WinXP, prior to the complications of User Account Control in Windows Vista and Win7. To get past this complication:

Tweening

Tweening between key frame points is done by Hermite interpolation. It has a good set of per key frame adjustments: curve tangent settings and easing control. Position tweening has separate controls for curve path and travel. Curve path controls the shape of the animation path and travel controls the speed along the that path.

Is the Bongo 1.0 toolbar always showing up in the middle of the screen when you start up Rhino?

We’re currently working on fixing the problem. The problem is caused by the fact that in Windows XP, which Bongo 1.0 was developed on, users where allowed to save to some folders that now in Windows Vista and Windows 7 are write protected even though you have administrative rights. Here is what you can do manually to make the toolbar stay in place:

Yes, by using the Bongo Version Selector.

In the Bongo 2.0 folder in

Camera Rotation in Bongo

Question

Why does my camera rotate part way through my animation?

Answer

If your camera point passes directly over (or directly under) the target point, the camera will tumble and rotate because it has lost its reference. To avoid this, make sure that the camera passes just to one side of the target.

Bongo 2.0 Inverse Kinematics

What is Inverse Kinematics?

When multiple objects are linked together with parent-child-relations the structure is called object hierarchy. In an object hierarchy parents usually transform their children as they are transformed themselves. These transformations are usually defined by rotation angles around pivot points, translations along pivot axis and axial scaling factors. Each object applies its parent's transformation to its own. This way all of the objects in…

What are the practical limits of Bongo at the present time?

I am currently working on a long driving animation which I would hate to hit an unknown limit after spending the time to set it up.

The practical limits are that you can only have a maxiumum of 1000 ticks on the timeline.

What is Morphing?

Morphing is a special effect in motion pictures and animations that changes (or morphs) one image/objects into another through a seamless transition.

With the help of Bongo 2.0 you can animate simple changes to objects in Rhino by moving the objects control points.

Bongo FAQ

I get an error message after rendering and no video file is produced

I'm pretty sure the “Out of Memory” error is coming from the AVI compressor - probably because the AVI compression settings are set to Full Frames (Uncompressed). This codec seems to fail on many machines with certain sized images, and unfortunately it is beyond our control. On the other hand, you shouldn't be using it anyway as it doesn't produce good animations because they can't be displayed fast enough.
